Wakulla CI Release Outcomes
Wakulla Correctional Institution is the main unit of an FDC state-prison complex. Its occupants are state prisoners, not Wakulla County jail detainees. A person may leave FDC custody when a sentence expires or through parole, conditional release, or another authorized state mechanism. Parole and conditional release place a person in the community with supervision. They are not the same as an unconditional discharge.
Institutional movement is different. A change from the main unit to Wakulla Annex, the FDC Work Camp, reception processing, or any other Florida prison does not end incarceration. The statewide FDC offender record carries the person across those moves. It should show a changed location while current state custody remains active. The key question is not whether the main unit stopped listing the person, but whether FDC recorded a release and whether supervision followed.
Confirm Wakulla CI Release
The FDC Offender Search is the correct public route. Use the broad all-offender search when the current category is not known. A DC number is the strongest match key. Name searches should be checked against date of birth, middle name or alias, physical descriptors, and photograph so that one person is not confused with another.
- Enter the DC number, or search by last and first name.
- Compare all plausible results with the available identity details.
- Open the detail and read current status and current or last location.
- Review incarceration history and each dated release event together.
- Check the supervised-population record if parole or conditional release may apply.
A historical release line can coexist with a later admission. That means the person once left FDC custody but later returned. For a present release from Wakulla Correctional Institution, seek a current no-longer-incarcerated status, a matching Release Date or Date Out-Custody event, and an active supervision record when the release type calls for oversight.
The public system uses distinct date labels. An active prison profile can display Current Release Date, while Florida law calls the calculation concept a tentative release date. A released profile uses past-tense Release Date and can show Custody: N/A. Current Release Date is subject to change and does not prove that release has happened.
Wakulla CI Search Fields
FDC's public result is person-centered and statewide. It is not a Wakulla County booking sheet. The result can provide enough detail to distinguish a transfer, a projected prison exit, an actual state release, and later community supervision.
| Field or view | Use in release verification |
|---|---|
| DC Number | Matches the state correctional identity across records. |
| Current Status | Shows whether current incarceration or supervision is reported. |
| Current or Last Location | Separates Wakulla CI from another institution or an assigned supervision office. |
| Current Release Date | Shows a changeable future date on an active inmate profile. |
| Release Date | Shows a past FDC exit on a released-offender record. |
| Date In/Out-Custody | Places releases and later returns in sequence. |
| Sentence and offense | Connects the custody period with the sentence and case. |
FDC says Inmate Release data is updated nightly. Inmate Population is fully refreshed weekly, with release-date and location changes nightly. The agency also warns that public information can change quickly. Near a projected date, confirm the actual event rather than copying an earlier date as a promise.
The manifest capture comes from the official FDC search landing page.

The statewide form is the correct starting point for main-unit prisoners, Annex arrivals, and Work Camp placements alike.
Wakulla CI Records Contact
The institution can answer site-specific administrative questions, but historical discharge proof and sentence-data questions belong with statewide FDC offices. Central Records can address correctional record questions, while the Bureau of Admission and Release handles release calculations and release issues. A request should include full name, DC number, date of birth, institution, and the exact record sought.

Useful record terms include release date and type, release history, sentence-data sheet, discharge certificate where maintained, and public photograph. FDC may withhold exempt medical, victim, security, presentence, and other protected material. A focused request for public release facts gives records staff a clear target and avoids treating the public profile as a certified document.
When the public result shows supervision, FDC Community Corrections is the next authority. Wakulla is in the Second Judicial Circuit, but an assigned office follows the person's actual supervision location, not necessarily the county of conviction or the prison from which the person left.
Wakulla CI Release Dates
Florida Statutes §944.275 defines the tentative release date as the projected state-custody exit after gain-time has been granted or forfeited. The maximum sentence expiration date is the unreduced endpoint after lawful sentence credit. On the public profile, Current Release Date is the user-facing label for an active inmate. TO BE SET means the date is still under review, and a life sentence can show SENTENCED TO LIFE instead of a calendar date.
Eligible sentences may receive incentive gain-time under the statute, subject to exclusions. For covered post-October 1995 sentences, gain-time cannot cause release before at least 85 percent of the imposed term has been served, with qualifying physical jail credit counted toward that floor. It is not a guarantee of release at exactly 85 percent.
New sentences, corrected jail credit, gain-time awards or forfeitures, disciplinary action, detainers, court amendments, and release-program decisions can change the displayed date or prevent a community exit on that day. A detainer is authority that can place the person with another custodian after FDC confinement ends.
- Tentative release date
- The statutory projected exit after gain-time changes.
- Current Release Date
- The changeable date shown on an active FDC profile.
- Release Date
- The past event shown after FDC custody ended.
- Discharge
- The end of the applicable custody or supervision term, as shown by the responsible state record.
Note: The date field forecasts an event; the released-offender history and current status establish whether the event actually occurred.
Wakulla Prison Complex Roles
The FDC Wakulla complex listing is the matching manifest source for the main institution. Official audit material describes a large complex consisting of the Main Unit, Annex, and Work Camp. The Annex also processes newly received prisoners. Those roles explain why the location name can change during one continuous FDC commitment.

The image identifies the official complex source, while the person-level offender record remains the source for an individual's custody and release history.
The main unit's role is confinement within the Wakulla complex. The Annex combines confinement with reception processing for new arrivals. The Work Camp is another incarcerated placement. None of these labels is a release type. A person can move among all three without entering the community.
That distinction also separates the FDC Work Camp from the sheriff's county probation Work Camp. The latter can involve daily reporting and afternoon release under a probation condition. It is not part of Wakulla Correctional Institution. Operator and record system settle the distinction: FDC status for the prison complex, WCSO and court records for the county program.
After Wakulla CI Release
A state-prison exit may lead to parole, conditional release, another form of community supervision, or no continuing supervision, depending on the legal release type. FDC Community Corrections supervises probationers, parolees, and other authorized populations. The Florida Commission on Offender Review makes parole and specified release decisions. A hearing date or projected date is not itself a physical release.
Read the FDC Supervised Population search when the released result suggests oversight. Fields can include Supervision Begin Date, Current Location, Current Status, Supervision Type, and Scheduled Termination Date. ACTIVE means active community supervision. ACTIVE SUSPENSE means the person is temporarily unavailable for direct supervision, often due to confinement elsewhere, while supervision remains open. It must not be paraphrased as released.
The separate FDC Inmate Release search narrows the result set to state release records. For an unclear state-prison release, the sound evidence pair is the detailed FDC record plus confirmation from Admission and Release, Central Records, or Community Corrections. County jail records do not establish a Wakulla CI discharge. The court sentence can explain the commitment, but FDC records the state-custody exit and any state supervision that follows.
